My passion for open source began over 10 years ago while I was doing ecology research in Southeast Asia.
As a struggling graduate student, the idea of community-built software freely available meshed with both my personal philosophy as well as my budget.
At the same time, I realized that my friends in these emerging economies were functionally excluded by the digital world by expensive proprietary software.
For me, open-source is a compelling option. For them, it is the only option.
I now live in a small town in the Rocky Mountain west of the US where I am continuing my passion for open-source by contributing to projects where I can in my spare time. In addition, I am developing a few projects which I will open-source the code once the projects are complete <-- (something that will happen sooner once I figure out how to make money at this.)
Thank you for your support.
