Applying image transforms to YouTube thumbnails

I'm trying to use ImageOptimize or native transforms on YouTube Thumbnails from an Embedded Asset, but can't use these methods on a string variable. I found this old issue and wanted to see if there is any progress/plans to fix (or if it has been addressed and I'm messing up with my template code).

Hi @sonoflee,

This functionality hasn't been added for craft 3. I wasn't aware of this issue until now since the original dev isn't working on the plugin anymore.

I'll add it to the list of improvements/features I'm working on.
