How does the availability check for the connectors work?

Within MDS we have currently some connectors which are online without any apparent malfunctions, but are shown as offline in the portal overview.
Therefore our question would be: what do you exactly check? Do we have any logging messages on the portal or on the broker side which could help us to understand what is going wrong?

I'll clarify a few things internally before we come back to you.

The connector online status is determined and set by the catalog crawler. If the crawler can fetch the catalog, it will set the connector to ONLINE, on a failure to OFFLINE.

For those apparently functioning connectors that show up as offline, I would check whether the catalog can actually be fetched by another connector. If yes, I would investigate the crawler logs for any errors.

Keep in mind that the crawler only crawls connectors in the same environment as the crawler itself.
