Scale/tile level

Hi
Have a problem with to small objects on map. Exactly, tile/scale level is to high to my exceptations (in the other words- for background of my project i get the map in to small scale). Details are unreadable. Can I (or maybe You) do something to select preferred tile/scale level in options of Qgis layer, or- simply- to add a layer with specified level?

I tried to manually select by save from ready layer, then change in txt editor, and next open changed layer definition, but -to be honest- I don't know much about it.
