Your MetaMask will default to the "Ethereum Mainnet" network, so we need to get that changed. To do this, you'll need to follow these steps:
Click the dropdown button next to "Ethereum Mainnet" and click "Add Network":

Fill out all of the prompts using the following values...
Network Name:** Shimmer EVM**
JSON-RPC Endpoint: https://json-rpc.evm.shimmer.network
Chain ID: 148
Currency Symbol: SMR
Block Explorer URL: https://explorer.evm.shimmer.network/

After you've filled in all the prompts, click "Save":
And just like that you've added the Shimmer EVM network to your MetaMask!
