resolve a doi brings you to the metadata page, not the actual resource

many doi's, such as https://doi.org/10.1007/s10021-015-9855-z, do not resolve to the actual resource, but to a metadata page, in this case the actual pdf is located at https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/s10021-015-9855-z.pdf. How to go about that case?
