Part of this relates to #12, how do we define the role of RSE and widen the role of this for people who are doing RSE work but may not identify themselves as such.

Would be useful to talk to people who are already doing this characterisation of this. Like Jeremy Cohen and Neil, also the RSE competencies work.

  • start a comms channel for collaborating with ongoing work @stefpiatek
  • talk with SSI about outreach for people who are doing RSE work but may not identify with it - trying to reach the people who are doing the research software. @JamieJQuinn
    • digital humanities feels like a major blind spot

@stefpiatek to follow up in about a week, also worth talking to Jon Cooper & @martintoreilly

Sam was at the Bioinformatics event and there's documents on their competencies framework

Discussed 4/12/23 Need an update on this from @JamieJQuinn. We understand Jamie has asked Kirstie Pringle to assist but is waiting on a response.

@martintoreilly comments that there may be overlap here with the working group on RSE role competencies? Dave Horsfall is leading momentum on that.
