I like many others enjoy the delayed unlocking of top racials. But I am thinking there could be a twist! Increase the unlock time but give a Racial/Faction project initiated by the President in order to unlock the ship early. I'm thinking Automatic unlock coudl be 3-4 weeks, and the projects unlocks it after 2 weeks instead.

Project should be pricey and require traders to bring cargo and credits to the HQ. Those working on project woudl recieve XP with each turnin based on the amount of the turnin, something equivelent to a 5x sell maybe, maybe little more. The total cost of the project sohuld be quite high, 25-50 mil I'd say.

This will lead to alliances trying to stuff certain races so they can get most benefit out of the project and start raiding early. But usually not whole faction will be able to get intot op racial right away.
