Using a supported version?

  • I have searched searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
  • I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

3rd party rpm / dnf / packaging is creating all sort of bad experience on Signal user side on the desktop. We need official support for smooth Signal App experience on RPM / dnf side.

Signal App is all about trust / privacy. We don't feel safe installing 3rd party images of Signal Desktop.

We are facing these problems in a number of distros,

  • Fedora Linux
  • RHEL Linux / CentOS
  • OpenSUSE
  • other RPM / dnf based distros

Willing to help if developer or testing for the beta or stable is required on one of these platforms.

Steps to reproduce

dnf install signal-desktop

doesn't exist unlike many popular apps i.e., Google Chrome, WhatsApp, Telegram

Expected result

to accurately install signal-desktop without 3rd party bogus stuffs!

Actual result

doesn't install
