Bug Description

Ctrl+Shift+V hotkey assigned to two different functions. One function is "Paste and match style", another one is "Begin recording voice note". Only the latter one works.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Signal
  2. Open any conversation
  3. Press Ctrl+Shift+V

Actual Result:

Begins recording a voice note. Users expecting pasting to work are going to be confused

Expected Result:

Unique hotkeys should be assigned to different functions

Which one should keep the shortcut?

ctrl-shift-v is standard pasting keyboard shortcut in Linux systems (X-Windows paste buffer). It's also pasting without formatting in Google Chrome.

I say ctrl-shift-v in Signal should keep to pasting.

Weirdly enough I only found out about it today on debian (upgraded yesterday) and it pissed me off that a standard pasting shortcut was hijacked. How do I paste stuff from the x-window buffer into Signal now ?

Hey, this still hasn't been addressed. Could it be fixed soon please? Not needing to manually reformat pasted text would be great.

Also, ability to just customize shortcut bindings would be nice.

Edit: Uh, huh. Double checking, there IS no hotkey in the list for pasting with formatting. And even the right click menu version doesn't work.
