@mh105 - i placed this issue here ~last month based on our slack discussion with the goal of adding extensibility to run this from within a task and not just after completing data collection.
i wanted to ask whether you happened to integrate the class into your task -- and if so -- have you made any critical edits to the remote-edf2asc class that could help support this feature?
if so, a PR with those edits would be amazing and much appreciated 🙏 but if not, no worries! fyi, this is still on my todo list but isn't pressing as i don't have these needs myself at this time and thus haven't designed/brainstormed what this integration could look like... that being said, if you have any thoughts on what this integration could look like (code not necessary) i could try and integrate this feature faster.
My general guideline around this is that I am restricting myself to using the Builder GUI of psychopy for all tasks that I code. This is not necessary, as I can achieve better control of everything and have fewer bugs if I script directly (which would allow me to integrate this remote-edf2asc module to my script). However, I am very convinced that not all researchers who will design cog neuro experiements can code rigorously, and it will be hard for them to understand my code (or yours) without seeking substantial help from us.
So my personal choice is to integrate everything I see as improved functionality into psychopy so that it is the single source of learning that I can point people to. My (weak) recommendation for you is also to move in that direction, as you will soon run out of time coding yourself when you start your lab, etc. It's best to converge onto something that people can reliably re-use with minimal learning curve.
To answer your question directly, no I haven't been using this remote-edf2asc class despite the days and nights that I spent questioning myself why I am suffering from psychopy bugs - I think I'm just taking a bullet for my future lab, in a way advanced timeline.
