In addition, rio::import() for at least SPSS format datasets produces labelled data. An additional advantage is that other packages in the "sj" group work with labelled data. When I'm pooling multiple datasets with a nominally identical structure, you can use sjmisc::rec() to recode a labelled variable. This is an advantage because some of the datasets I use (should be identically structured) sometimes have varying capitalisation or replacing "and" with "&" in the data labels, causing a recode once converted to factor to fail. |
