Doesn't recognize systemless root

I have a Nexus 5X rooted with Magisk. In order for Serval to recognize I have root, I had to symlink su into /system/xbin (iirc), but that caused a bunch of other problems outside of Serval (which is why I have a systemless root).

If I had to guess, Serval checks for the presence of su but only in a hardcoded location.
