dig can be installed as part of the bind-tools package. Your repository is on the first page of some search engines, so it might be worth noting this in the readme.

Hi @hashdang thanks for the note. As mentioned in #3 the primary reason for this repo to have a statically linked dig, so it can be curled into any linux.
The readme should be fixed for sure (delete the reference to the missing alpine package) but unfortunately I'm not a maintainer of this repo any more (left the company). So I just leave this comment here for explanation ...
