I noticed that if I use the inline link ("Create inline link to lit note"), it appends the link to the end of the line, not the position of the cursor. Even if the cursor is at the end of the line with a whitespace before the cursor, the whitespace is removed and replaced by the inline link.
Inserting it at the position of the cursor would be much more helpful though!
I'm not sure if this behavior has changed since some update or if it was always like that.
