I had a friend comment to me that the @ symbol doesn't work for Windows filenames.
Thinking about folder+file structure, there's not a particular reason that the filename needs an @, except that it means you can put additional reference files next to it and they won't be suggested, e.g.:
/People
/@Bob Dole.md
/Fun Cat Facts.md
In this situation, typing @ does not suggest Fun Cat Facts since it doesn't start with @.
Dropping the @ doesn't necessitate dropping the @ from the Obsidian link, e.g. you could still have:
[[People/Bob Dole.md|@Bob Dole]] likes cheese.
I guess I'm proposing an option for whether to use the @ in the filename or not.
