Is this project abandoned/dead?

What is the status and future plans for this project? The number of unresolved issues keeps growing, same for PR. Last release was on 17/12/2022. Should I be looking for other alternatives?

@sagalbot Is the project still being maintained?
I just came across the documentation and the whole thing is almost exactly what I need for a project, but I want to make sure it will be maintained in the future.
