I think I saw this from hacker news. But I thought you might be interested in another take. Not quite as small as yours but it includes an update mechanism that makes it super convenient:

I don't know if I will ever use but it was fun to play with. I didn't implement it the way you did yours since I wasn't sure how to gather all the DOM references.

But yours looks really nice!
