Privacy Policy

(DRAFT REVISION NO. 2)

1. Definition

  • "The Project" refers to App Manager as a project. This includes the git repositories (excluding The Project Hosting Providers), E-Mails and its maintainers. (See §6)
  • "We", "Us" and similar capitalised pronouns refer to The Project maintainers.
  • "E-Mail" or "E-Mails" refers to the E-Mails sent directly sent to The Project maintainers.
  • "The Software" refers to App Manager software distributed by its maintainers.
  • "The Project Hosting Providers" refers to GitHub, GitLab, Codeberg, RiseUp and SourceHut.
  • "Third-party Services" refers to The Project Hosting Providers as well as VirusTotal, F-Droid, Hosted Weblate and Open Collective.
  • "Third-party Websites" refers to the websites that are neither controlled nor operated by Us.
  • "You", "Yours" and similar capitalised pronouns refer to any person who uses The Software or has contributed to The Project in any way.
  • "PII" refers to personally identifiable information.

2. Information Collected from You

2.1. The Project

We DO NOT collect any information that has not been provided voluntarily by You. Sources of these information are git contributions and E-Mails. They may include PII such as Your real name and E-Mail addresses, and should You choose to send crash reports and logs via E-Mail, they may also include non-PII such as device name, operating system version, software version, language and so on.

https://muntashirakon.github.io/AppManager/ is the official website for The Project and is hosted by GitHub (see §2.3). We do not collect any information from the website.

2.2. The Software

We DO NOT collect any information from The Software.

Depending on the services used, the privacy policy of the following services will be applicable to You:

Links to the Third-party Websites are provided for your own benefit. For your own safety, it is advised to read and understand the privacy policy of the websites before visiting them.

3. Data Retention Policy

Information collected via git are stored forever. These information are also accessible to anybody at any place. E-Mails without legal importance may be stored for at most a year. These E-Mails are stored offline in a partition encrypted via FileVault. Legally important E-Mails may be stored forever both online and offline. Visit the privacy policy of the third-party services (as specified in §2.3) and websites (as outlined in §2.4) to understand the data retention policy of the corresponding services or websites.

4. Removal of Information

You can request the removal of PII by either sending Us an E-Mail or creating an issue. You can also request the removal of non-PII, but the removal is not guaranteed. In both cases, the following information cannot be removed by Us:

  • Information present in a commit message such as the Signed-off-by: tag
  • Information contained in a file (since they are a part of git history)
  • Forked repositories (You have to ask the person who forked the repository)
  • Reactions to GitHub issues, comments and discussions (You have to remove them Yourself)
  • Information stored by the Third-party Services or Third-party Websites (You have to ask them Yourself)

The following information may or may not be removed:

  • Mentions in a comment
  • E-Mails containing information that have legal importance

5. Changes to the Privacy Policy

All changes except the changes in spelling or grammars to this privacy policy will be announced in all the official channels. Unless stated, newer privacy policy will only be applicable to the newer versions of the software.
