It would be useful to have a display function such as
https://github.com/r-spatial/slideview
within terra. Currently, slideView() works with objects from the raster package (which can be converted
but that is inconvenient, see r-spatial/slideview#4).
This display mode is very useful and would be of general interest for terra users, but loading a different package for one single display mode is not the best option. Thus integration in terra makes sense.
Also, note
r-spatial/slideview#5

I have made a version of slideview that takes SpatRasters and submitted a pull request: r-spatial/slideview#6

While that PR is pending, you can use my version by installing it with

remotes::install_github("rhijmans/slideview")

Thanks, but please note that the problem pointed out in r-spatial/slideview#5
remains:
Please browse here, note the position of the legend, and click and drag to see how the image moves within an oversized window:

@aloboa I am aware of the rmd/quarto issue and will look into it. To follow progress, see r-spatial/slideview#5
