Bastion timeouts disrupt lab flow and break saved env vars

The bastion timeouts don't allow much time to step away or read the lab guides. They also break saved env vars. I'll review for PRs I can send to ensure they get echoed into env files but in general the timeouts mean a lot of shuffling in the lab guide to relogin.
