How to clear the new chunk highlights?

So, I tried out the new chunk highlighting feature. It has its uses, but even after turning it off, the highlights remain. How can I clear them?

Better yet, as an enhancement, can the mod support a configuration value for automatically clearing the "new" chunk highlight after a given period of time (or some other set of conditions) so only recently generated chunks show as new instead of every new chunk since the feature was last turned on?

there already are settings to toggle whether highlights are saved to disk

Okay, I think I found them:

• Open World Map settings.
• XaeroPlus WorldMap Settings.
• Chunk Highlight Settings.
• Palette NewChunks -- turn it off. (Lots of other settings are also here.)
