Copyright/Illegal Content - How to Handle? #75
-
We just had some of our first copyminted NFTs re-shared on our platform as a lazy minted NFT. What is the best process to proceed? It had a bid on it on Rarible as well. We reported it on Rarible, but we also own the IPFS storage of the content. So we unpinned the metadata and image content. However, how does that effect that we reported it on Rarible now that the data is gone? Also the seller could still accept that bid now and give the buyer a broken image. It would be nice to have some sort of direct line or expedited process of reporting until a better solution can be created. Would love to hear y'all's thoughts on what that could look like. |

Another related question. Brody unpinned the data from IPFS but the content on Rarible still appears intact. Do you know how long it takes for Rarible to refresh the metadata? Is there a button we can press somewhere like on OpenSea so that we can refresh to see the image taken down? |

Ah, so the fun begins. 1.) The best way to handle this, for the time being, is to report it (Via the site) and drop me a mail at [email protected] - We try to review all reports within 24 hours of receiving them but sometimes it's longer if we are having a high volume day. 2.) Unpinning the Metadata should not affect the report since we aim to review them within a reasonable window but as previously mentioned by emailing me I will ensure if the reported item/user/collection can't be reviewed that it will get dealt with. 3.) Yes unfortunately until the seller is banned they can still accept the bid and with some "hacking" probably even after the item/user has been banned. Edit: I don't know the amount of time it takes for Metadata to get refreshed but I believe very shortly the ability to refresh manually will be available on both the Protocol & Marketplace. |
