From #17:

  • How did you find Rarely?
  • Why are you interested in it?
  • What skills can you offer now?
  • What skills are you looking to learn?
  • How do you want to contribute?
  • Do you intend to regularly contribute, or as time/skill align?
  • Would you like to be included in group work sessions?

From #17 (comment):

@allthedoll what format do we want the issue template to take? Is there a survey software we would want to use that we would integrate into rarely or are we trying to make something ourselves that would be built into the app itself and use no outside stuff?

@seehorne Great questions! I have been wondering about this as well. Not sure if @allthedoll has examples from other projects.

I could image the new issue forms (which are an enhancement over the Markdown issue templates) could work well for this.
We could link to the issue template from various places such as the README.
The interested volunteer would then create an issue through that template/form which could automatically be assigned to the project maintainers who then can follow-up and potentially guide the interested volunteers.

@seehorne @allthedoll What do you think?

@seehorne @steffen Apologies for my delayed response. Yes, @steffen, this is exactly what I had in mind: a simple form to ask questions to the interested persons like

  • How did you find Rarely
  • Why do you want to contribute
  • How do you want to contribute
    • Regularly or sporadically / how much involvement do you want to have / how much time do you want to dedicate
  • What skills are you brining
  • What skills are you trying to learn
