So I notice this both in atom and in vs code. I have to disengage from each menu by clicking to close it as opposed to sliding over it.

I made a video illustrating metacity and notion's handling of it so you can see that it's a window-manager based difference

for now my work-around has been to run Xnest and then run something like metacity in the Xnest and the application in there. So then notion manages the Xnest window instead. So it's not impossible to workaround but it is kind of a pain.

Can confirm this happens with Signal and Wire, but I don't use the dropdown in those enough to have noticed this beforehand... Interesting. Doesn't happen in metacity, you say?

It actually doesn't happen in tile mode either. So just floating.

I used metacity as a simple modern reference wm just to try to isolate the source of the problem

Also look into the xnest hack described above if you can't figure out a good lua kludge

@kristopolous I'm seeing the correct behaviour in Signal now. Is this fixed?
