In most of the final demand charts, like Chemical industry sector, the series are split into energetic and non-energetic (feedstock) demand:

In the Other sector however, this distinction is not made:

I would propose that, instead of showing the sum of energetic and non-energetic demand, the Other sector final demand chart should have separate series for each.

While investigating this issue I found that this graph does not have a dedicated folder on etsource, but is directly made up from queries in the gqueries/general/final_demand/mece folder.

This seems to be the case for other final demand charts as well.
I propose we make an inventory of these charts and create a dedicated chart folder for them while picking this issue up as well. Do you agree @mabijkerk ?

I created an inventory of all the output series that do not have a subsequent folder on etsource.

Since there are a lot of them you can view them below this drop down:

Output series
  • buildings_heat_demand_and_production (outdated)
  • dynamic_demand_curve
  • electricity_hv_network_load
  • electricity_lv_network_load
  • electricity_mv_network_load
  • electricity_network_load
  • emissions_agriculture
  • emissions_built_environment (outdated?)
  • emissions_indirect
  • emissions_industry_energy
  • emissions_overview
  • emissions_transport
  • final_demand_mekko_energetic_mece
  • final_demand_mekko_mece
  • final_energy_demand_per_sector_joule
  • flexibility_hourly_all_carriers_cumulative_imbalance
  • flexibility_hourly_carriers_inflexible_imbalance
  • flexibility_hourly_electricity_supply_demand
  • flexibility_hourly_heat_network_supply_demand
  • flexibility_hourly_hydrogen_supply_demand
  • flexibility_hourly_network_gas_supply_demand
  • flexibility_hourly_p2p_storage
  • flexibility_monthly_carriers_inflexible_imbalance
  • flexibility_monthly_carriers_inflexible_supply_demand_max
  • flexibility_monthly_carriers_inflexible_supply_demand_sum
  • flexibility_of_backup_scatter_plot (oudated)
  • heat_infrastructure_annualised_costs_ht
  • heat_infrastructure_annualised_costs_lt
  • heat_infrastructure_annualised_costs_mt
  • heat_network_demand_ht
  • heat_network_demand_lt
  • heat_network_demand_mt
  • heat_network_production_ht
  • heat_network_production_lt
  • heat_network_production_mt
  • heat_network_storage_ht
  • heat_network_storage_lt
  • heat_network_storage_mt
  • household_heat_demand_and_production (outdated?)
  • hv_demand_curves
  • hydrogen_demand
  • hydrogen_production_for_fertilizers (outdated)
  • hydrogen_storage
  • installed_flexible_capacities
  • lv_demand_curves
  • mekko_demand_bio_resource
  • mekko_of_detailed_final_demand_in_industry_energetic
  • mekko_of_detailed_final_demand_in_industry
  • mv_demand_curves
  • network_gas_demand
  • network_gas_production
  • network_gas_storage
  • overview_costs_of_electricity_production (outdated)
  • relative_primary_co2
  • relative_primary_demand_of_coal_oil_and_gas
  • use_of_final_demand_in_agriculture
  • use_of_final_demand_in_freight_shipping_transport
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_chemical_detailed
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_chemical_fertilizers
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_chemical_other
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_chemical_refineries
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_other_food
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_other_ict
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_other_paper
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_other
  • use_of_final_demand_in_other_sector

I feel that for this issue a good scope would be to focus on the use_of_final_demand_in charts, since some of these charts have a dedicated querie folder and others have not. Below is the list of charts that do not have a folder:

  • use_of_final_demand_in_agriculture
  • use_of_final_demand_in_freight_shipping_transport
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_chemical_detailed
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_chemical_fertilizers
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_chemical_other
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_chemical_refineries
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_other_food
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_other_ict
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_other_paper
  • use_of_final_demand_in_industry_other
  • use_of_final_demand_in_other_sector

Though I do think it would be valuable to revise the output_element_series folder, I would not make it part of this issue. I would open an enhancement issue forit. I would for example then also check which queries are only in the output_element_series folder to see if some should be moved to the general folder.

For this issue I agree that it would be useful to add a sub folder for this chart in the output_element_series folder.
