Was deprecated in #162, part of 17.3. The replacement function, is:

use EDG::WP4::CCM::Path 16.8.0 qw(unescape);

@ned21 feel free to make a case why we should keep it longer 😄

The problem is that some sites have private components which need updating to the latest style/API. If the component is also scheduled for removal/replacement but that won't happen prior to 17.10 then it's hard to justify the work to modify the component but let's see where we are in October.

Our dependencies are:

  • ncm-daemontools (to be decommissioned): EDG::WP4::CCM::Element qw(BOOLEAN)
  • rootpw (needs update): EDG::WP4::CCM::Element qw(unescape);

Discussed at RAL workshop, will leave flagged for discussion until MS can update internal components.

Milestone removed until we can agree on removal.

I think the issue is open for some time now, and we can handle the removal, so no objections.

@gombasg - have we fixed rootpw and daemontools components? ISTR the challenge was that RH5 was running too old a version of CAF to allow us to update it to use the new functions so we had a bit of a catch-22.

I've marked this for 20.12 as "Extended EOL" for RHEL 5 finishes on 30 Nov 2020.
