Contentful sections in sidebar?

Hello -- Using GitBook we have some content where the section labels have pages associated with them.

For example, in the screenshot here of quarto.org, imagine that I could click on Authoring and there would be page content associated with it (as is, it only toggles open/closed the listing of the section-contents pages):

Is this possible in Quarto?

Yes it is - if you provide an href for the section, it will link to a page as well as expand the tree...

Give something like this a try:

- section: "Basics"
  href: section.qmd
  contents:
    - index.qmd
    - basics-knitr.qmd

TIL also (new to Quarto) that I'm experimenting with a bulk-convert from a GitBook read-only-clone repo -- the contentful section-header pages all happen to be named something/something/README.md & when I keep that spelling in _quarto.yml, when clicked on, they're rendered as raw markdown not HTML. If I simply rename them to something/something/summary.md in the filesystem & in _quarto.yml then all is well.

Not entirely related to this question, but overlapping -- perhaps useful in case someone comes along later attempting a port from GitBook.

That is a useful note (I didn't see it in our documentation, though I did in our code ;-) ). We explicitly filter out paths prefixed with ., _, and README.md/README.qmd/README.rmd from project renders, which ls largely designed to from rendering repo README files inadvertently. I'll try get the docs updated to reflect this!
