[torchao]NotImplementedError: AffineQuantizedTensor dispatch: attempting to run unimplemented operator/function: aten.permute.default #890
Comments
@msaroufim @bdhirsh @jerryzh168 Could you please take a look? |
I can repro with this on a recent torchao commit:
We might be able to make a smaller repro - but it looks like inductor needs some knowledge about which graph inputs are parameters during freezing, and this goes wrong when the parameters are actually subclasses that desugar into a different number of parameters. cc @IvanKobzarev, do you have bandwidth to take a look? (if not I can grab this one) |
Thanks @bdhirsh. Yean, per the discussion with @jerryzh168 in #884 (comment), I have added the |
sorry just saw this, this should be opened in torchao instead I think |

**Summary** Fix #135831 and pytorch/ao#890. The root cause of the numerical failure was that the customized woq-int8 kernel was not triggered due to changes in the pattern. After re-adding the fusion pattern, the accuracy check now passes. I will open a separate TorchAO PR to enable these unit tests in TorchAO. **Test Plan** ``` python test/inductor/test_mkldnn_pattern_matcher.py -k test_woq_int8 ``` Pull Request resolved: #135928 Approved by: https://github.com/jgong5, https://github.com/eellison

#136265 is the fix. The problem: TracingContext.flat_params contain original params, with not desugared Subclasses. flat_params are used only for this logic and storing in them desguared subclasses fixes the issue. As a result flat_params containing Subclasses in AO test it started calling aten ops like permute on Subclass object and got NYI. |

Thanks for the fixing. @yanbing-j can you help to verify and close this issue? |
I have verified in torch 2.6.0.dev20240922+cpu and torchao 0.6.0+git0bdde921. This issue is fixed. Submitted PR #917 to remove the skip config of UT |

🐛 Describe the bug
I find there are still errors in torch 2.5.0.dev20240911+cpu and torchao 0.6.0+git3e9746cf.
