PEP 541 Request: pyicloud #5377
Comments
Hi @timlaing, We are working to contact the owner to determine if they're reachable and have sent them a courtesy message. Final determination regarding project ownership will be made by the PyPI Administrators when the research process is complete. |
Thanks for picking this up |
If I'm reading the PEP 541 docs correctly. We should have an update on Feb 21, 2025, is this correct? |
That sounds about right. Six weeks from the 10/01/2025 based on: |
Looking forward to the update. |
Not necessarily, it is six weeks from first triage, not six weeks since the issue was opened. Since the first time this issue was triaged was on Jan 10, it is technically six weeks from that date, unless we hear from the owner earlier. |

Maintenance has started and can be found here: https://github.com/timlaing/pyicloud |
Many thanks for your efforts |

This project has become unmaintained and I wish to continue it development. Others in the community are also asking for it to be maintained and where the current owner is. See picklepete/pyicloud#469.
Maintenance or replacement?
Maintenance
Source code repositories URLs
The current git repo is hosted here: https://github.com/picklepete/pyicloud. I have created a fork that I am going to use for ongoing maintenance here: https://github.com/timlaing/pyicloud.
Contact and additional research
I have tried to contact the current listed owners however there appears to be no valid contact information. As stated above there has been an issue raised on the repo with the current owner has not responded too. No new code or releases have been made since 17 Feb 2022. The owner has made 1 github update (to a private repo) in the last 2 years. As such I feel certain that this package needs a new owner that is willing to address the current issues.
