First of all, I would like to thank the project community for creating a very nice theme.
The reason why I suggest adding a language switcher to the sphinx-pydata-theme project is that although the Sphinx project provides multilingual features, sphinx-pydata-theme lacks a UI for language switching. This requires users to change URLs to find documentation in different languages manually. This is inconvenient for the user experience and an essential feature for building a multilingual site.
On the other hand, adding the proposed language switcher will allow users to switch between different language documentation and provide smoother navigation easily. This is expected to improve the user-friendliness of the project and increase user engagement.
We are currently using a version switcher in a project called PyVista, but adding language versions to it could confuse users.
It is essential to distinguish the language switcher UI using a clear label or icon to avoid this problem. It is also essential to clearly indicate the location of the language-switching UI so that users can easily switch to the desired language.
Overall, adding a language switcher to the sphinx-pydata-theme project will improve the navigation of the multilingual site and make the project more user-friendly. However, a straightforward UI design is necessary to avoid confusion.
