Potential solutions:

  • Education, info-pages, contextual help, etc.
  • Linking/bridging with other online systems for mapping data
    • Look into licensing PolicyMap.com to bridge gap between GIS Expert and Novice use.
    • Public datasets... "open in X application/viewer" or "open in ArcGIS online".
  • Provide contact info for Maps dept/Wangyal "Request Assistance" (for Princeton users)
  • Citation assistance/examples for datasets (and maps)

The above is not a complete list of possible solutions. DLS and stakeholders should continue to brainstorm and prototype the best solutions. Emily Wild had suggestions for pointing to publicly accessible data sets where our versions may be restricted.
