Slow Queries for Larger Sites #1316

I’m using the content display block in a test environment right now and Query Monitor is showing that the query that is generating the block is slow. Is there a way that I can limit the number of stories pulled by these blocks to within the past week? The site is quite large at 69,000+ posts and has a lot of posts in each category.
