I'm working on a hearing assistance device that will utilize 2 mics & 2 amps (I2S, of course). The controller is an XIAO esp32-s3, which I found out after ordering that it doesn't support Bluetooth Classic HFP. So, I'm looking for options and suggestions for connecting the phone to the headset, both for playing audio, and for phone calls.
I do need the ability of mixing the mic audio with the phone audio, as well, for "local" ambient sound. I know that BT Classic is rough on battery life, so I'm thinking about adding a stereo analog-to-digital device, but then I either have to add another DAC for the mic, or a low-powered electret mic, like the MAX9814.
The majority of the time, the device will simply feed the audio from the dual mics to the dual speakers, after going through any needed processing, like the 3-band EQ, volume, gain, etc.

I'm not 100% committed to using the XIAO, either.
