Tracking Edition 2024 Readiness

Is there any issue or discussion where we can follow this progress?

The best I have found is a mention of "early 2025" here.

It will be helpful to know if we can just wait a short while to get the helpful features like strip_enum_prefix which can massively shrink our changesets when transitioning off of gogoproto, otherwise we will just push forward without.

Edition 2024 is in development, and will likely be finalized / released in our ~Q3 minor release pending internal rollout timelines. In the interim, the --experimental_editions flag enables early experimentation with unreleased (and unstable!) editions, but should be used with caution.

We're working on committing to a more predictable release schedule for future Editions releases, and expect to publish this in our documentation accordingly.
