No Footnotes on the Title Page

Issue warnings for \thanks and \footnote

What should be used as an alternative though?

It depends on whatfor. Why would you want a footnote?

Some examples:

• To indicate a change in the affiliation (e.g. Work performed while at ABC)
• To indicate that the authors list is in alphabetic order

For the first, we had a paper where this information was put on the second page.

The second is an interesting bit of informaiton.

However, we do not think this information is a good fit for the first page, as it can equally well be put in the Acknowledgements or the author info.

Any idea how to achieve the first?
I am finding it hard to add the asterisk after the a,b , it appears on top of the last.
