Ask for first signup

Whenever someone new (when there are no users who can login into the system) install the application on their system, there should be a pop-up for adding the first user.

Maybe if you update Laravel to a new version that supports the latest version of Carbon the functions will be available.

Also when signup is successful there is a validation message
"Your account has been created. We have sent you an email to activate your account"
You are using username and there is no field to enter email. Also there is no implementation for user status check so you should probably change that message.
