As best as I can tell from trying to reproduce the bug, it only shows up when there's one result in the launcher, such as when doing a calculation or entering a terminal command. If the output is all numbers, then both the output and the Ctrl+1 get cut off. However, if the output contains text, only the Ctrl+1 seems to be cut off.

I've now observed this bug on both of my dogfooding computers.

  • Dell Optiplex 9020
  • Pop_OS 24.04 LTS (up-to-date as of 9 Nov 2024)
  • Kernel 6.9.3-76060903-generic
  • Intel i5-4570S (4C 4T)
  • Intel integrated graphics.
  • 128 GB mSATA SSD
  • 16 GB DDR3

My second dogfooding computer is a System76 Galago Pro 3:

  • Same OS (and presumably same kernel, though it isn't with me at the moment and I can't check for sure)
  • i5-8250U (4C 8T)
  • Intel integrated graphics.
  • 16 GB DDR4-3200
  • 1 TB M.2 SATA SSD

It occurs to me that it might be related to padding, since I'm using the Compact layout.

Update, It does not appear to be related to padding.
