=== 2023-10-07 - A new stable release and a release candidate for Openwrt 22!

We released a new version of Libremesh based on OpenWrt 19!

This means that the release candidate needs testing, bug fixing and

=== 2023-03-10 - Endorsement to BattleMesh v15 in Calafou, Barcelona

The Wireless Battle of the Mesh is going live for its 15th edition. This time for a full *week* again!

=== 2022-09-18 - Participation to BattleMesh v14 in Rome

LibreMesh supports this year's "Wireless Battle of the Mesh - Building Community Networks for Fun and Non-Profit".

The event aims to bring together people from across the globe who are interested in community networks, including wireless mesh network technologies, fiber infrastructure, Do-It-Yourself Internet Access Providers, and more generally how to create and maintain a thriving community of people involved in building their own networks.

We envision 4 days of expert presentations, practical workshops, hacking sessions, and fruitful discussions: whether you are a mesh networking enthusiast, community networking activist, protocol developer, or have an interest in networking in general, come and join the event!

The Battlemesh is free of charge and open for all.

This year, the event will take place from Monday 19th to Thursday 22nd of September, 2022 in Rome, Italy!

=== 2020-12-15 - LibreMesh 2020.1 release

The LibreMesh team is happy to announce a new version of LibreMesh, 2020.1 "Expansive Emancipation".
Three years of work, 882 commits, 23 developers, tons of bug fixes and improvements!

This release is compatible with OpenWrt stable 19.07.5 and old-stable 18.06.9. For the time  source-only
release so you will need compile it yourself for the devices used by your community using the easy to
follow instructions in https://libremesh.org/development.html


==== What's new in 2020.1 "Expansive Emancipation"

It is imposible to do a meaninful list of all the changes. A non complete list of the most relevant
developments:

* https://github.com/libremesh/lime-app/[LimeApp]: an app to for the maintenance and deploy of community networks targeted to non-technical
community members.
* A new community-oriented configuration system that facilitates collective maintenance of configurations.
* shared-state, a shared database for the network.
* first-boot-wizard, an optional helper to deploy and extend the network that it is well integrated with the LimeApp.
* https://github.com/libremesh/lime-packages/blob/master/packages/pirania/Readme.md[Pirania], an optional boucher and captive portal solution for community networks

* Hundreds of fixes and code improvement.

=== 2020-09-18 - A release candidate for the next release!

Although the LibreMesh development never stopped, it was since the 17.06
"Dayboot Rely" release that we didn't have an _official_ release.
The goal is to have the **final release at the beginning of November**.

This means that the release candidate needs testing, bug fixing and
loads of community love so that we can have an amazing release that can
actually ease the creation of community networks everywhere.

=== 2018-04-13 - Join us at Mesh is in the Air!

We endorse https://www.wireless-meshup.org/[Mesh is in the Air] - this years mesh up of the https://www.battlemesh.org/[Wireless Battle of the Mesh] and https://wiki.freifunk.net/Wireless_Community_Weekend_2018[Wireless Community Weekend].

LibreMesh developers and users will be attending the event, giving talks about development progress and state, and in general sharing a nice time.

=== 2017-06-06 - Attended Sysupgrades

Within this years https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/[GSoC] a fellow student tries to setup a new way to perform sysupgrades on LibreMesh Routers (and LEDE/OpenWrt in general).
The idea is to generate sysupgrade images on demand with all manually installed packages included.
