How to snap an object onto a Line?

I'm trying to find a way to snap an object onto a line when it gets sufficiently close to it. I'm currently using useGesture and useSpring. If anyone has suggestions or advice on how to achieve this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Can this be accomplished using bounds?
Can bounds be used in 3D space?
