John Field noted in his comments on the 2021 document that ...

For CA fisheries you included gillnet (set net) catches with trawl catches rather than fixed gear? 
At some point, that might be worth a closer look and potentially reconsideration,
generally in CA fisheries the set net fishery has more frequently been pooled with fixed gear (set nets are in fact a type of fixed gear) because
they have tended to target larger individuals (thus selectivity patterns more similar to hook and line).
No need to address this formally,
but I’d appreciate hearing from you whether you actually looked at the length frequencies by gear type in developing the model.
