I think I suggested this at the weekly meeting tonight. We have been using a PayPal description string of WEB2004 for 10 years. This seems to be a missed opportunity to convey additional information. Maybe the node name? Or the year? Or, really, anything ;-)

the real issue is consistency between this:
https://github.com/personaltelco/ptp-splash-page/blob/master/src/dust/splash.dust.html#L153

and this:
https://github.com/personaltelco/ptp-splash-page/blob/master/src/dust/splash.dust.html#L342
which actually causes a redirect to:
http://personaltelco.net/donate
which itself redirects to:
https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow&SESSION=_Qtiiv42Mo-aef_fsxig-uq020ZOaO4yo6n9OjxpVs4MilAB-L4tPM_aOkC&dispatch=50a222a57771920b6a3d7b606239e4d529b525e0b7e69bf0224adecfb0124e9b61f737ba21b081982546798d23b9808f2b0faaf533a5dbe5

That's a configured Rewrite rule in:
/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/default-ssl

So there's a few things to decide there.

what if anything should live at http://personaltelco.net/donate
how do we maintain consistence for the opt_out features of splash page donation

For the time being, rather than worry about which host is getting donations, I'd prefer to get any donations at all. But we should certainly fix these inconsistencies.
