I have this printer; the drivers provided by Brother do not work on Gentoo.

It's possible to read their installer scripts for Debian and configure the system the same way; debug their perl-scripts and all that. But then I'm stuck with some error in the Brother provided rawtobr3 tool -- which doesn't have any source code available.

The error is: Invalid output bin -1; which is pretty worthless.

But I've installed the latest version of this package (6) on Gentoo ; I chose the HL-L2340D driver and everything worked perfectly.

Thank you for the report, there is an open pull request #179 that includes this printer.
