I replied to the Q&A called 'Attach to Road' Performance thread. I am reposting my reply here since the other thread was closed and I am not sure my response will receive any attention.
I have several thoughts after trying to use an imported file for a road trip.
The 'Attach to Road' feature is simply unusable in my opinion for road tours of 100 - 300 or more kilometers. So I believe the documentation should reflect the current state of the 'Attach to Road' feature is in. Something like this feature is not recommended for trips longer than 'X' kilometers or with more than 'X' waypoints. Don't just say it is slow, please give us parameters too. Perhaps a warning should popup when the user attempts to use the feature when it is know to be a problem and ask the user if they would like to continue.
I tested importing a file that failed in OsmAnd using Locus Map and the file imported without the same problems as OsmAnd? One problem is OsmAnd is generating turn instructions for corners in the road. This is unwanted and I call this annoying bug Micro Turns. I usually resort to turning voice instructions off rather than listen to the noise.
Why can't OsmAnd look at all of the points in a GPS file and build the route from the points? Since the points in the GPS file are on known roads. Maybe that is what the 'Attach to Road' feature does? So couldn't the route be create by using the route waypoints in place of GPS file points? Couldn't that be a config question asking which import would you like to use GPS file points or route waypoints? I would think building the route from waypoints would be just as fast as manually inputting waypoints.
Also it was stated that it is not recommended to use the import GPS file feature and to instead plan your routes at https://osmand.net/map/. In my opinion there are several features (like multiple waypoints) not working and I find the web map link is still in a beta state. If that is incorrect please point me to a video or documentation showing how the website is used to create a multipoint route. The map colors are also nothing like the Android app and hard to see details on the map. I do not find it usable in the current state.

Well there are my questions and concerns.
