Trip recording, GPS is lost when screen is turned off

OsmAnd+: 3.9.10 (F-Droid)

Thanks for great contribution to community.
When I turn off the screen during Trip recording is active, I have issues with interupted tracking and it needed to lock GPS sygnal again.
Doze optimization is disabled for OsmAnd+ and notification is active during tracking.

I've read following article and I got familiarized with Android 11 backgroud location access.

Some apps like Sygic works normally and have permission for location "Allow all the time".
Is there other way to get it working in background exept that screen needs to be active during tracking, which in my case is not suitable for hiking, usually ~8 hours.

Users cannot grant this, if the app does not request it.

I've also tried with older version 3.8.5 which had permission "Allow all the time", but issue is the same.
Do you know maybe other solution?

Why is #11602 closed? Is it fixed? I'm also having this issue and this basically renders track recording feature unusable.

In my case problem was started when I bought mangetic phone case, which was messing up my phone sensors.
When I removed it everything return to normal.
Only thing that is unclear to me is how it was working when device was active and not in standby.

I though the fix is that app should require appropriate permissions, mainly android.permission.ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION as stated by @duesentrieb17 above.

No, this is incorrect fix. And it couldn't be published to Google Play

I have also started observing flaky trip recording after upgrading my device (a Samsung Galaxy S10e) to Android 11. Specifically, I can initiate trip recording but the moment I turn off the screen it appears that the track. When the display is again turned out the track continues.

Here's my experience with this issue: I have two phones, both on them running OsmAnd 3.9.10 from F-Droid.

The first phone is running Android 10 QKQ1.200512.002 and MIUI 12.0.7.0, and it did not have the option to "Always allow" location access right from the start, only "Allow when active". So when I turn off the screen (i. e. making the phone and OsmAnd "not active") the GPS data is not received by the app and the track is not recording.

The second phone is running Android 10 QKQ1.191215.002 and MIUI 12.0.3.0 and right now it behaves exactly as the first phone, but some time ago (unfortunately I can't say what version it was), there definitely was an option to "Always allow" location data for OsmAnd and track recording was saving while the phone was locked. I put the timeframe when this was working roughly from mid-2020 to early 2021.

Most of non-system apps on my phone do not have "Allow always" option either, but some of them do.
