Describe the error
Please give a location of the error, and a brief description of what is wrong or confusing.
In problem 3.1.8.2 it says:
Suppose you are counting lattice paths from (0,0) to (4,3).
We know that the number of such paths is (4+3 choose 4) = (7 choose 6). Here is another way to count these paths: Consider the cases for where your first step in the y-direction is. There are five different options here; compute the number of paths for each case.
I think it should be (4+3 choose 4) = (7 choose 4).
What version of the book are you using?
Online Fall 2024.
