I'd like to initiate a conversation on the subject of XMTP Improvement Proposals (XIPs) concerning the addition of content types for message reactions. A few related XIPs are currently pending in draft mode, and it would seem beneficial to consolidate the disparate discussions for a more targeted and fruitful conversation. We can utilize this thread to explore the various aspects of reactions and strategies for implementing them.
At this time, kindly drop in any ideas or thoughts on the existing proposals. Personally, I can't wait to see a widely adopted standard for reactions in XMTP.
Some ideas on how we might get the conversation going:
What are some simple ways to support reactions that minimize development efforts?
What kinds of things could the protocol or SDKs do that would simplify the addition of reactions?
What kinds of issues might arise from reactions, including threats and malicious behavior?
