parameters in select statement

I tried to create a statement that using a let varbial within a query with javascript.

But nothing then using template string in JavaScript to insert the variable inside.

I saw similar people like me try using DEFINE with $var but not working and also a work around with shell commend. But because I am using JavaScript i did wanted to know if there is better solution then my? or putting it in another words less work around?
