I have a Mac Pro 6,1 (Trashcan) and that Apple no longer supports. I have been considering installing Linux on the machine and searched for info about running macOS in a VM which lead me here. Discussion #1521 suggests someone has attempted to run Quickemu on Linux running on authentic Apple hardware (MacBookPro). I noticed in the Quickemu description that installation of macOS into a VM running on Linux installs OpenCore. But I think that description assumes the user is installing the software on generic PC hardware. If you have authentic Apple hardware is OpenCore required? For instance, could I install Monterey (the last supported version of macOS for the MP 6,1) in a VM on a Mac Pro 6,1 running Linux without having to use OpenCore? |
