@leticiafabre cool idea! We could try to merge your project with this project: https://github.com/orgs/oceanhackweek/discussions/12. The latter project looks at eddy kinetic energy (not internal wave energy) by computing spatial variations in velocity. If we have datasets of high enough resolution (for example from model output) we could maybe also get at the internal wave energy. But I should say, I'm not an expert for internal waves. |

My idea for a project is to explore a little the internal wave energy distribution in the ocean.
Using data from mooring in different ocean basins to calculate the vertical variance in velocity and displacement of isopycnals. Then compare with what one would expect to find at each location according to Garret and Munk's theory.
